On May 1, 1886, a general strike for an eight-hour workday began in Chicago, leading to violent clashes between police and labor protesters. This resulted in injuries and deaths on both sides. A few years later, that day became internationally recognized as International Workers' Day or Labor Day, which we celebrate tomorrow.
Many work-related issues have since been solved or improved, but there is still work to be done. One of the things many people are asked in job interviews is how they deal with stress at work, so let’s discuss that today, hopefully learning something from each other.
In your experience, what causes stress at work (and how)? Is it long working hours, relationships with colleagues, bad management...? Can you give examples from your career?
What do you think should be done in general to reduce stress at work?
Have you worked in both your home country and Sweden? Can you compare the working conditions in both countries? In which country did you experience more stress at work?
Are there professions that are inherently more stressful and can this be reduced?
How can our own attitude towards work contribute to reducing stress at work, in terms of how we do our job, how we communicate with colleagues and bosses, etc.?
Do you think that digitalization at work has led to more or less stress at work?
How does starting a new job affect stress at work?
