Språkcafé #70, 23/04/2025: Workshop - choose a topic and write discussion questions!

Part 1

Today we start with a mini language workshop. The workshop will last 30 minutes.

I hope our language workshops become a tradition. Grammar is the skeleton of the language so it is important to keep it sound so that it can support your learning. 💪

Yes, last time at the language café an idea came to me - how about I let you write discussion questions for some future språkcafé? So I can take a break.

I'm just kidding, I don't need a break, I love writing discussion questions 💗, but I think this would be a good exercise for you, when it comes to communication and collaboration in Swedish.

Here is the suggested procedure:

• The session will take 30 minutes with 3 of you in the group.

  
  

• You choose a representative who will write down the questions and send them to me after the språkcafé, or the day after.

  
  

• You brainstorm for 5-10 minutes on the topic you want to choose (it doesn't matter if we already had it at the språkcafé, just don't copy my questions from the website 😅).

  
  

• Then you all come up with as many discussion questions as you can.

  
  

• And we will use your questions at some of our next språkcafés. Cool, huh?

Tip:

• Try to frame discussion questions in a way that motivates participants to discuss, such as not being easy to answer with a yes or no. Ask them to tell stories, discuss their opinions, etc.

Part 3

Yes, yes, there is also part 3... - another 30-45 minute session where you exchange experiences with your conversation partners about what it was like to write discussion questions:

1. Who were you in the group with? Which countries were your workshop partners from?

   
   

2. What topic did you choose and why did you choose that particular topic?

   
   

3. How many questions did you manage to come up with and was it difficult to do?

   
   

4. How was the overall experience for you? Did you benefit from it and in what way?

   
   

5. Was it easier / harder than you expected?

   
   

6. Do you think there might be too many or too few discussion questions for a språkcafé?

   
   

7. What advice would you give to someone preparing to do the same task?
